Dell Perc H730 H730p Adapter, Mini Mono, Mini Blade Compared

Not sure which Dell Perc RAID controller to get for your 13th Generation Dell PowerEdge Server? You have come to the right place.

Due to the variations it was very confusing to me and probably confuse a lot of others also, so hopefully this article will help.  The models ending in "p" such as H730p have the larger onboard cache. ex.. H730 have 1GB cache while H730p have 2GB cache. H710 have 512MB cache will H710p have 1GB cache.

The Dell Perc Series-9 controllers such as the H730 are test for the Dell PowerEdge 13th servers, but it does not mean you cannot use it in the Dell PowerEdge 12th servers also. It was just not tested for compatibility, so use it at your own discretion.

Take R920 for example, H730p Adapter is supported while H730 Adapter is not support, according the the table about. Say you want to use the H730 in the R920, can you do it? I would say most likely yes. The only difference as far as I know between the H730p and H730 is just the cache size, so I don't see why not.

Take T430 for example, H730 Adapter is supported while H730p Adapter is not supported, according to the table about. Again, I don't see why you cannot use the H730p in the T430 if you want to as the cards differs only in the amount of cache.

Same case for the Mini Mono and Mini Blades cards. However if the server does not have slot for the Mini Mono card, for example T630, obviously you cannot use the Mini Mono card.
